The Team is excited to share financial and technical assistance resource information with you and provide an opportunity for your community to develop a vision for housing and establish local housing priorities.
The workshops will highlight:
- Assistance with matching innovative and existing financial resources with new housing development and rehabilitation projects locally.
- Sub-regional housing five-year goals
- Examples of small community housing development implementation
- Group activities to identify local housing priorities and action steps
After the workshop an informal technical assistance session will be available for communities and developers…bring along your project ideas!
Professionals representing the Housing Expeditors, Lenders, Developers, and Planners will be present to discuss you projects and answer questions.
Please invite other community leaders to join you and attend a workshop at one of the listed locations.

Virginia Library sponsors brown bag lunch discussions with authors
Bring your lunch to the Virginia Public Library for our Visiting Author Brown Bag Lunch Visits. Each Brown Bag Lunch will be held in the library auditorium from noon until 1:00 on the Friday of each visit.

September 26, 2008—Local author George Erickson will be here to discuss his most recent book Back to the Barrens: On the Wing with da Vinci and Friends and the writing process. He will also have a photo presentation with images of the Far North.
October 10, 2008—Did you know that this year marks Minnesota's sesquicentennial? Minnesota author Steve Keillor, author of Shaping Minnesota's Identity: 150 Years of State History, will be here to discuss his book and our state's 150th anniversary.
October 31, 2008—Tom Phillipich, local author of The 1951 Basketball Buccaneers, is coming to the library to talk about his book. The book includes photographic and audio work done by his parents during the 1951 basketball season.
November 21, 2008—Are you ready for the holidays? Do you need cooking ideas? Just in time, Beatrice Ojakangas will be here to talk about her most recent cookbook, The Best Casserole Cookbook Ever.
